5-Week Birth Assistant Training

When: Tuesday and Thursday each week, February 3-March 12
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., including a one-hour break for lunch

Welcome to the world of midwifery. Midwifery supports a normal, natural philosophy for families during the childbearing years. Your desire to become a midwifery assistant offers you to be part of a team that a birth-giver trusts and looks to for support. The role of a trained assistant is an essential member of the team who provides an intuitive pair of extra hands to the primary care provider midwife.

This training will prepare the student to assist a Licensed Midwife or Certified Nurse Midwife in the out-of-hospital setting, whether at home or at a freestanding birth center. Assisting includes: labor, birth, immediate newborn, and birth giver postpartum. It satisfies current laws and regulations for a midwife assistant in Florida. Training will focus on the head, hands, and heart work of midwifery assisting.

Cost: Total cost for this 60-hour training is $997 per person (limited to 6 people per training). Please fill out the application below. I will review all applications and accept up to 6 students into the course. If accepted, you will need to place a deposit of $250 within one week of being notified. The balance is due by the first class on February 3.
